“witty, toe tapping tunes and tasty arrangements”

Behind The Barn with The B-Stars (Rust Belt Recordings, 2010)

“This San Francisco band hits the ground running with their debut release, Behind the Barn with the B-Stars. The album has ten original tunes and two covers. I love their witty, toe tapping tunes and tasty arrangements. This is a five piece band with electric guitar, upright bass, rhythm guitar, drums and non pedal steel guitar, plus a guest appearance by piano great Carl Sonny Leland on four tunes. You can certainly hear the influences of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Little Jimmy Dickens to mention a few. One of the covers, Texas Boogie, is a nice tip of the hat to the late Gene O’Quin, who recorded it back in 1951 and was a star on the Big D Jamboree in Dallas back in the early ’50s before moving to the west coast and joining Cliffie Stone’s Hometown Jamboree.  The great picking and singing on this CD has had me keeping time on my steering wheel and singing along as I drive around town.  I highly recommend this and look forward to their next release.”
